Jessie & Ryan’s Wedding Photography, Henley, Suffolk

Jessie & Ryan’s Wedding Photography, Henley, Suffolk

Here is another update from the manic weekend I had a week ago! Jessie & Ryan’s wedding photography from a private address in Henley on the outskirts of Ipswich, Suffolk. As you all may have guessed by now, at least if you have been paying attention to the updates on My Facebook Page I like my group shots to be as far from the typical ‘penalty shoot-out’ poses as possible. I think there is so much more you can do with group shots than just the traditional line up. So when I met with Jessie around a month or so ago to discuss the day, one of the things I suggested is use the items around us. The location of the wedding was a private farm…never short of props! With thanks to Wayne, the farm owner, I was spoilt for choice… who said group shots had to be boring…take a

Charlotte’s Photoshoot – Dedham

Charlotte’s Photoshoot – Dedham

I like a bit of a challenge and I’m always keen to learn a few new tricks. I’ve had an idea kicking about for a while of how to use my speed lights accompanied by some coloured gels to create/mimic light at a different time of day. This particular shoot was the perfect way to try the idea out. So at 9am on a Sunday I went out to try and create an image using only whatever natural light was available, 3 speed lights, 2 on stands, one on-camera and a pack of coloured gels to mimic the light of a late afternoon sun. Impossible you say? Ha!  Maybe I’ll reveal my secrets one day but for

Kelly & Shaun – Manor Farm

Kelly & Shaun – Manor Farm

I may have been a little bit quiet for the past week and it’s not that I haven’t been up to much. Completely the opposite, I had four weddings in a row last weekend! All those weddings with even more meetings thrown in and family portrait sessions means one busy bunny! Therefore, I haven’t had as much time to keep on top of the blog updates. I like to get my clients images out first! This will be the first of 5 wedding updates (I’m getting there!) not to mentioned the family photo shoots! Kelly & Shaun had a wonderful day at All Manor of Events in Henley on the outskirts of Ipswich

Lianne & Jimmy – The Belstead Brook Hotel

Lianne & Jimmy – The Belstead Brook Hotel

It’s the busiest month of the year for me, 4 weddings down and still 4 more to go! What started of as another miserable day weather wise turned into another lucky clear break in the rain for me. Lianne & Jimmy had their ceremony at St Mary at Stoke Church in Ipswich (3rd time I’ve been there in 2 weeks! Were all on first name basis now!) and then on to the wonderful Belstead Brook Hotel for a very relaxing reception evening.

Sarah & Tom – Thorpeness Country Club

Sarah & Tom – Thorpeness Country Club

I think this season has opened with the worst run of weather I’ve encountered to date. If it’s not raining, the ground is just too damp or it’s too windy. This was all encountered a couple of weekends ago at Thorpeness Country Club in Aldeburgh. It’s always a logistical nightmare to organise group shots in this type of scenario, made even worse by being on the coast!

So imagine my surprise when all of a sudden the sun came out!… “Everyone outside!” I will always opt to hold out in the hope the weather clears just enough to get any group shots and bride &

Steph & David – Holiday Inn

Steph & David – Holiday Inn

Its been a slightly crazy month this June. Its not even half way through and I’ve already managed to cover 5 weddings and an entire dance school! Next up for the world to view is Steph & David’s wedding which was held at the Holiday Inn in Orwell, Ipswich, Suffolk. I had a slight suprise on the day; as I turned up to the hotel it quickly became apparent that the entire Great British Gymnastics Team was staying there in preperation for the Olympics. I almost had to fight my way through the sea of red, white and blue tracksuits just to get into reception! I did however manage

Natalie & Scott – Ravenwood Hall Hotel

Natalie & Scott – Ravenwood Hall Hotel

It was a happy day for me; this was the first wedding of the season when it didn’t rain! It was beautiful sunshine the whole day! Usually I am a little bit apprehensive on bright sunny days, as any photographer worth their salt will tell you, it’s one of if not the single most difficult condition to shoot in. But i was so relieved I could get so great group shots outside, I ran with it! It was also a massive help that Ravenwood Hall in Suffolk has some great shaded areas, which the groomsmen were much appreciative of being in their suits.

Taleala & Stew – The George Inn

Taleala & Stew – The George Inn

I traveled a little further afield for Taleala & Stew’s wedding at The George Inn in Babraham, Cambridgeshire a couple of weekends ago. The George Inn is a new venue to me which is a lovely little true English pub, the perfect setting for an Australian bride with many family members who flew over especially for the wedding. If you’ve never paid this pub a visit, I’d highly recommend stopping by for a bite to eat! The food was amazing!
